One of the first sociological and ethnographic documentary films worldwide, made by the team of sociologists and students of Professor Dimitrie Gusti (1880-1955) in the village of Drăguş, Făgăraş County, Romania.nThe documentary follows the activities and customs of a mountain village imposed, later, as a privileged research field for Romanian sociologists and anthropologists. The filming was made between 15.07-15.08.1929, after a substantial documentation. The supervision of the production belonged to Professor Gusti, within the fifth Sociological Research Campaign of the Seminar of Ethical and Political Sociology, established by him at the University of Bucharest. The operator and editor was Nicolae Barbelian, and the directors-screenwriters, Paul Sterian and Nicolae Argintescu-Amza.nThe absolute premiere of the film took place on December 4, 1929, at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, and the official premiere on March 5, 1930, at the National Theater in Bucharest. The screening of the film was accompanied by a musical illustration (processing by Constantin Brăiloiu, based on local songs collected by Harry Brauner) in the performance of some musicians from Drăguş. In the years 1930-1940 the film was presented abroad (France, Germany, USA), to illustrate the lectures of Professor Gusti.nFilm sound environment and soundscape by Simina Oprescu.
